Decision errors including driving too fast for conditions, too fast for the curve, false assumption of others’ actions, illegal maneuver and misjudgment of gap or others’ speed accounted for 33% of crashes. Performance errors such as overcompensation and poor directional control accounted for about 11 percent of crashes. The most common non-performance related cause of car accidents as sleep.
